Unfortunately, so is the NRA. Have you seen their latest "solution" to the gun problem? Armed guards at every school in the nation.

Hi Fred,
The NRA itself is a problem because it insists on its own loud existence and its unfortunate propensity for parading nauseatingly loathsome talking-heads to affirm their "rights" at every highly inappropriate moment. Yelling one's insistence to the 'right to bear arms' is a questionable, to say the least, strategy with which to protect anyone, let alone small children.

And yet . . . remove the bellicose rhetoric and the patriotic breast-beating, and the premise that the best protection against a man with a gun who is bent on murder is a man with a gun who is determined to stop him makes a certain amount of sense. Disarming the citizens of the US simply is not going to happen, that tipping point has long-gone. Sp protect yourself and those who can't protect themselves? The problem really isn't the guns, it's the problem that's always been there and always will - some of the people who have them. Just how do you determine the fitness of an individual to own a lethal weapon?

You'll never stop armed angry/deranged/desperate people killing each other. Maybe you can minimise the slaughter of
children and those who choose not to join the gun-fest?

Scary thought, isn't it--especially after reading comments by politicos from one of the two major parties.

I've been hearing the NRA preach this for decades. It's an excuse to do nothing.

One simply does NOT put guns in the hands of deranged people, but that's been the effect of NRA's efforts for decades now.

there are 89 guns for every 100 Americans, while in England that number is 6..so in the year 2011 the USA has 8,583 murders, & England had 42..does this mean all the 'loony-tunes' live State-side..?? course not..the one's over here, can't get their grubby hands on guns that easy..do we live in fear..??
