SUNDAY BREAKFAST

Yes, neighbours. I’m solidly with Homer Simpson. Mmmmmm, donuts. Fuel of the wastrel. The donut breakfast made me what I am today, and don’t even talk about what it did for the Police Department. Also a well favored hangover cure. But it hardly needs any art-cute ceramic receptacle. (I’m also not too keen on rainbow sprinkles.) I don’t know who thought this was smart, but, as far as I’m concerned, donuts are eaten from the bag, and coffee comes in a paper Dixie cup (preferably with a blue on white Greek motif if you’re in New York City.) All else is superfluous.

The donuts are not the same quality over here in Blighty though, much better over in the US, what do you think?

As the high street baker vanishes, donuts deteriorate. It's true in the US and it's true here. But help may be on the way. Krispy Kreme (Bill Clinton's favourite donut) is opening up in the UK, although, right now, they're all around Manchester.
But the best donuts I ever remember were from a street vendor in Amsterdam. (But maybe I was loaded.)

In Spain street vendors sell piping hot donuts, crisp on the outside, melting inside, covered in cinnamon and crunchy sugar. So much nicer than the US/UK e-number mush the cops, Homer and you two seem keen on. And must we really have yet another US franchise takeover of the high street?
