DEFEND CIVILIZATION! (As we know it?)

Missile Command was a machine in the pub in the 1970s and the very last videogame I knew how to play, and even then I wasn’t aware I was defending the planet Zardon. Hell, I thought I was defending Bristol or Milwaukee, and the fun was always in the virtual potential for the mass destruction of millions of humans. If I’d known it was just Zardon, I probably wouldn’t have bothered.

Go look up Red Dead Redemption, which launches in one week (on the 18th) to see where video games are in the contemporary... incentive, it's a western & it goes south of the border into revolution territory.

The good people at Rockstar Games, who also make the Grand Theft Auto series, are behind this production. I suggest the Rockstar link over wikipedia, namely because wikipedia doesn't have the movin' pictures. I suggest the video titled "Gameplay Series Life in the West" if you're interested.

RDR is probably the biggest pre-E3 game, prince of persia with it's film counterpart aside. E3 next month.. fucking madness.

I've always wanted to watch video games, but I've never had the time or inclination to play them.
