MORE ON HOW I WAS PHISHED

Our pal Stephan writes on Facebook… "HACKER WARNING! There is a new way to hack your Facebook. A Notification will be sent to you that one of your friends has commented on your status, it will open a new page and tell you to re-enter your Facebook user name and password. The page looks just like the FB login page so be on the look out!! Repost this to your status to let your FaceBook family know."
And Valerie has sent us visual evidence.

The easy solution & remedy is to always, ALWAYS, check the web address your browser lists when you get prompted for any log-in or security code... make sure it's actually the website you're trying to access. If it is facebook it should always have www.facebook.com/ in the address, if it is anything besides facebook.com it's a phishing site. Same goes for blogger.com & your email & the rest of whatever you do online, read the web address to be sure & double check to make sure it doesn't have a one or two letter variation like 'faceboek' instead of facebook.

Also... if you were phished it is very important to change your email password if it is the same as your facebook password... if you do any sort of shopping or banking online and don't use a separate email for that be sure to watch your bank accounts regularly for a few weeks & see if you start getting any crazy charges so you can try to stop ID theft quickly if it happens. It is highly advisable to have more than one email account for that very reason... one you use for things like facebook & random communications or questionable file transfers, then another for secure & limited use you bank & shop from.
