THIS IS HARDLY WHAT I'M FIGHTING FOR

Far too much money is being made out of marijuana by far too many of the wrong people.

I though this was exactly what you're fighting for.

I'm more curious about who or what he's fighting & how...

I don't generally like to throw around phrases like "hollow rhetoric"... but, from my experience, most people who talk about fighting for legalization don't do a fucking thing for the movement besides talk about it. Not to sound so cynical or to imply that talking about it doesn't help, but dialog only does so much.

I'd like to see a post about a rally or petition... a link to NORML... something to help encourage & enable people to get active in their local community.

My honest opinion is that we're making valuable ground in a slow fight... not just in california, every town, county & state that pushes decriminalization is winning small battles by making legalization & regulation the only long term option left on the table for those seeking control. While people are distracted by voting in oakland, now is the sensible time to attack with modestly reasonable requests. Decriminalize medicinal use, make small possession a misdemeanor, take an inch & turn it into a mile over time... slowly turn up the heat & the frog wont know its being boiled until its too weak to move.

After forty some years in the trenches I really don't much feel much like offering my credentials.

I wasn't trying to ask for credentials or a list of activity from your venerable history & truly meant no offence... though looking at my post I can see how the claim might look like bullshit.

The bit about "hollow rhetoric" & the rest of it was more or less how I've been feeling about the old foagies that have organised hempfest into a carny event, with all the merchants & music front & center while anything that's actually politically active is pushed further into obscurity. Its like a big headshop being run like a fucking county fair. Granted, I understand the event needs monetary support to continue being hosted & held, but that doesn't mean the movement should be a back-shelf issue being pursued with seriousness by more independent outsiders than the fucking event's organization & staff.

I'm still curious about who or what you're currently fighting & how... namely because if you comment on that, people basically get your advice for how they could be fighting & what for in the time being.

I'm glad you brought this up because right now I have a lot of thoughts and a few misgivings about what I feel is a definite move to legalization of a state by state basis. I will try to write about all this -- either before or after I've addressed my problems with vampires.
