The death of Former Defense Secretary Robert McNamara at 93 should hardly pass without mention. McNamara was one of the key architects of the Vietnam war, which killed at least three million Vietnamese, around one million Cambodians and Laotians, and 58,000 American soldiers. McNamara was scum, and he remains scum in my estimation despite a mea culpa a few years. Here’s a short film about the SOB, with my favorite historian Howard Zinn. Click here. I also saw that mea culpa interview and, coincidently enough, he did it while he was the president of the fucking world bank. He probably wouldn't do it if he didn't have to wash up his image for that reason.
Sometimes an apology is not enough.
REST IN WAR
I don't agree with war but if you have some skill at critical thinking you will understand why he did it. He was trying to prevent a nuclear war from happening. He is not a hero, but not someone to reviled either.
It saddens me that happened but America would be so so so much worse off today and not as powerful if it hadnt been for that.
He knew we would lose. Still he wanted to protect us and it worked.
Black and white thinking is never good.
How the fuck does one prevent a nuclear war by shooting up a small South East Asian country with attack helicopters?
