KEYSTONE NARCS

The ever-alert Munz sent us this tale that would seem just one more reason to legalize marijuana. Whatever it might do to stoners, it makes cops terminally stupid.

“An undercover Iredell County Sheriff's Office deputy recently purchased drugs from undercover Statesville police officers, raising questions about communications between the two agencies. Statesville Police Chief Tom Anderson said undercover officers from his department were working a week-long case when they met with someone interested in selling a small amount of marijuana. The undercover SPD officers met with the individual in the parking lot of a local store to make the deal, Anderson said.
But the officers became suspicious that the seller was, in fact, an undercover deputy, Anderson said. SPD officers placed a call to Capt. David Ramsey, who heads the sheriff's office narcotics unit, and were told the seller was not a deputy, Anderson said.
"At that point we proceeded like we normally do and placed him under arrest," the chief said. After the arrest, investigators from the sheriff's office arrived and confirmed the seller was an undercover deputy and he was released.”

Our tax dollars at work, ladies & gentlemen...

Personally, I don't buy the story. A week's worth of investigation to buy a small amount of the green stuff?

Sounds to me like the two teams really hung out at dunkin's & then pulled a fast one at the end of the week & told a story to the boss that got blown way out of proportion...

How long does it take to buy a dime-bag? 10 minutes if you're friendly with the dealer & count the time it takes to smoke it with'em around back? 20 seconds if you're buying & bailing in a parking lot?

Don't get me wrong, its just another example of how absurd this prohibition is & how so many things are wrong with it. That was supposed to be a weeks worth of work from two separate operations, both supposedly there under the pretences of buying or selling a small amount of marijuana... the amount of money, resources, energy & time that could have gone into preventing a serious crime, like theft, rape, or murder was completely & totally squandered. Squandered & wasted for what? A small amount of marijuana? That was worth it?

Somebody getting stoned & ordering out for pizza is such a nuisance that we need to have sting operations out there looking for people attempting to buy or sell small amounts of marijuana... apparently in such an overwhelmingly disorganised force that they're trying to arrest each other. Because we all know that the people out there getting a small amount of the green stuff are the most hardened criminals who touch it & require the dedicated attention of routine operations, fuck those folks moving large quantities & doing big money deals that actually carry guns & are dangerous, we need to go after the average joe & jane smokers...

I wholeheartedly agree with the wise words of x_S. Especially regarding how pissed off I get when I realize I (and you) paid for this insanity in our diminishing economy.

The only thing I wanted to add was how Philip K. Dickian this all seems...
