In April 1989 I was living in New York and never felt the
full impact of the deaths at
Hillsborough stadium, but I seem to be catching up with a vengeance 23
years too late. While lawyers for the families talk about South Yorkshire police,
Sheffield city council and Sheffield Wednesday FC perhaps facing charges of corporate
manslaughter, I have to wonder if will all stop with just the coppers' cover-up, or will
investigations ever extend as far as the Thatcher government and the Murdoch
press, and also Thatcher’s well-known loathing for Merseyside, football fans,
and her massive, almost satanic, debt of gratitude to the police for allowing her
to use them as her very own personal storm troopers while crushing the miners. Or am I just dreaming and, when she dies, they’ll canonize
the witch.
The secret word is Retribution
a bloody disgrace the whole sorry story, There's a lot to answer for, and now we have the truth, (good riddance to the fu*ken sun)lets hope we can see some justice.
ReplyDeleteand a lot sooner than 23 years.

ReplyDeleteDoC what u know about footie, you can write on a postage stamp..thanks for waking up thou..here's a nasty little fact..in 2001 ex-officer Martin Long was one of the 14 officers who sues their own police force for stress of witnessing the Hillsborough disaster..he won £300,000..the 96 bereaved families got on average £3,500..that's British Justice m8 _
ReplyDeleteThe inherent nature of collectivism facilitates knee-jerk behavioral denial of evidence that misanthropy is rational. It's a wonder that members of collective egos ever awaken at all. A lifetime is but a flicker in the darkest regions of collective egos. Ego is always dysfunctional. Pain is very caustic to ego. When the pain level rises enough, all will awaken. Collective egos will shelter none, because ego is never real. Truth is infinite.

Oi Pirate..fuck off you stupid cunt _
ReplyDeletei refer you to my comment of several weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteKnee-jerk behavior, seeking Gods and Masters. When ego is challenged, the response is always behavior characterized by fear and hostility. No matter the poseurism of choice, ego is fraud. The individual experience can be terrifying recognizing that if the story isn't real, are they real? The cowardice channeling of fear and hostility toward others when ego is challenged, is the core definition of "civilization". Misanthropy is rational.

ReplyDeleteJeez. Anyway, watched the final 10 minutes of 'If...' again following on the report last week (here it is - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcqmN436yFQ&feature=related). For me, it pretty much sums up the course of action to follow with regards the SYP and other establishment bastards involved.
ReplyDeleteRetribution, where does it belong, in peace or drama? Consciousness seamlessly manifests recognition of interconnectedness. And by what means does a conscious person achieve separateness necessary in order to facilitate retribution? In perfect clarity one stands complete with all in the one life, where we all belong, where the slightest resistance yields self-inflicted suffering. There exists the only only viable option, forgiveness. All force initiated against others is done in semi-consciousness or less. A conscious person is incapable of harming others, as they know it harms themself. Love is purely selfish, returning focus to the perpetual question within, do you seek peace or drama? Suffering is a choice, separateness is not real, no matter your choice.

JoHnny de-Lux - Anything and everything you do is fine with me. I'm inclined to kill my ego whenever I recognize it. Neither am I an altruist and therefore don't seek the conversion of others. I quite like the characterizations you toss. Anticipating glimmers of depth, is as good as it gets. Wishing you the best.

I sympathise with the relatives of the deceased and wish them all the luck in obtaining compensation and prosecutions of any police responsible. But...it has to be said that the majority of football fans are idiots whose main interest when attending matches is to cause (or to see)trouble, and I'm sure there was a lot of said trouble at the Hillsborough game. If every police officer in attendance that day is to be investigated, so should every football fan in attendance that day be investigated.
ReplyDeleteLot of crap said here, but Andy I think you may have just taken it off woodchuck for "best crap written as a comment"
ReplyDeleteThe majority of fans go to the match to see the match. I suggest you read the full Hillsborough Report before commenting again about things you obviously know nothing about.
The only 'trouble' at Hillsborough was cause by inept and incompetent police. And while stupidity and incompetence are not a crime, the cover up, lies and corruption that followed are in fact criminal.
Between the late 1960s and the early 1980s I was a regular spectator at 1st division (as it then was) football. The Hillsborough report documents the ineptitude of police at the scene and the subsequent self-serving corruption of their superiors, and we are left in no doubt of their complicit responsibility in what at the very least must be manslaughter. Andy's comment that "the majority of football fans are idiots" is a regrettable and insulting statement that probably betrays his utter disinterest, and lack of comprehension of the game and all who follow it - yet to deny that there is, and always has been, a significant number of followers of some clubs (tho' not a majority) who take every opportunity to indulge in racist, thuggish and disgusting behaviour of all kinds, cloaked in the perceived anonymity of the crowd, is naive at the very least. I'd be most surprised if the Hillsborough crowd that day did not contain some of these elements - that doesn't mean they deserved to be killed by a lying
ReplyDeletepolice force, but we should all resist the tabloid press's usual wearisome tactic of labelling every one as either totally sanctified or utterly damned.
