WILL THERE BE AN ELECTION?
The following note comes from our pal HCB…
“Here's the thing--I see the tide slowly turning towards Obama, poll-wise,
until the Rovians play their grand trump card, sometime in October, and
sacrifice Palin's kid to some Iraqi (Blackwater hit man) suicide bomber.
It's a guaranteed vote getter.
Of course doesn't hurt that the kid is being deployed today, on 9/11.
By the way, I hear that some in Alaska refer to her as Mooseolini.”
And this provides the prefect lead-in for my cover story in LA CityBeat that discusses a prevalent paranoia that Bush/Cheney/McCain/Palin will pull something truly unholy before November and cancel democracy. (And FEMA and those coffins in Atlanta might have something to do with it.) Click here to read.
The secret word is Tyranny
Keen reading material, too bad there isn't more alike it out & available.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work.
He's right, my brother. Great work.
ReplyDeleteExcept these paranoid fantasies tend to never come true. Just see if I'm right.
ReplyDeleteSo there's nothing to worry about?
ReplyDeleteThere's plenty to worry about.
ReplyDeleteThere's plenty to worry about, but keep in mind that Bush is despised by virtually all of the Officer Corps and most of the rank and file.
ReplyDeleteThe CIA hates him. I know the FBI loves the Patriot Act, but it's unclear that they have any love for Bush/Cheney.
It's possible that they are so deluded that they believe they could pull something off with mercenaries, again, a big chunk of the military feels betrayed by their former comrades, turned high paid mercs. I bet a lot of elite soldiers would welcome a shootout with Blackwater.
There is some indication that Bush is too drunk to pull off an unaided walk to the men's room, never mind the seizure of power. Their coup attempt came and went.
Also, there have always been measures in place to crush the citizenry. What do you think those massive old National Guard armories were for? What, for that matter, did you think the National Guard was for? How about the interstate highway system? And, by the way, where is the National Guard?
My local Guard unit is back in Iraq on at least their third deployment. They've suffered heavy casualties and I doubt very seriously that they are in any position, never mind any mood to rush home and start rounding up the likes of me. Rush home, yes, roundup, no.
I'm convinced that sometime after we're all dead it will be revealed that the actual history of the Bush administration has been a series of coups and countercoups carried out in some twilight world.
Finally, what do the bourgeoisie want? Politicians don't have the final say. There's nothing to indicate that the tiny circles that really rule us feel at all threatened by the citizenry. If anything, they feel threatened by the ineptitude of the financial sector, the crassness of their peers in big oil and the sheer stupidity of the Bushites.
I'm expecting "reforms" from whoever gets into office next. Expect lots more "green" bullshit. Also, get used to the taxpayer being the primary risk taker in the financial world. If it works out, don;t expect to be the primary beneficiary of any profits. Maybe we'll even see a massive deprivatization of the military. Those officers need someone to command if they hope to advance their careers. Don't forget, McCain is the son and the grandson of admirals.
The rulers are always expecting class war. They have been preparing for it since the founding fathers. They've gotten it more than once. Maybe those coffins are in case they have to "pay half the working class to kill the other half."
There's a lot to be said for Jon's theory that non-cooperation by the military is all that's keeping a neocon holocaust in check.
ReplyDeleteThe end of Jon's comment reminds me of the saying -- usually atributed to Bertold Brecht -- that war is nothing but a bayonet with a worker on each end.
ReplyDeleteA more credible explanations for the "coffins" (grave liners or vaults, actually), such as the one provided by the Manufacturer, here:

...would have been nice to see in the article.
It's fun to read about paranoid fantasies, but you should try harder to keep from creating more of them.
Some of us have lived long enough to see our paranoid fantasies proven real.
ReplyDeleteThis is the important part of the Vantage statement...
ReplyDelete"In the funeral and/or death care industry there is a common practice of
people making their funeral arrangements prior to death. Many people
like to make their own selections for the casket and burial vaults that will
be used at the time of their death. Once this selection has been made
the local funeral home that has made the arrangements can purchase the
burial vault product from Vantage Products and we will store it for them
until that person dies."
I found the idea of a half million coffins stored on "pre-need" both suspect and highly implausible. It was also challenged by other comment-posters. Originally I included the explanation and the disbelief but, in the end, it was cut for space. Do remember, though, I'm reporting on conspiracy theories that already exist. They're not mine, and I'm not promoting them, or even giving them total creedence.
