WE HAVE THE BAND BACK TOGETHER
No, actually that’s Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps, who were younger and better looking, but we have the advantage of being still alive, although so far lacking suitable photographs. The band is (for the moment) working under the collective name “Mick Farren & The Last Men Standing” and that comprises Russell Hunter, Duncan (Sandy) Sanderson, and Andy Colquhoun – all former Deviants and Pink Fairies – Tim Rundall and Jaki Windmill (formerly of Space Ritual) and, of course your humble servant. Serious rehearsals are underway and the immediate goal is Glastonbury Fayre where we’ll be playing on the 1971 Stage at 5.40pm on Saturday June 25th. But, before that, we’ll be doing a couple of warmups. The first is around 2pm on Sunday June 5th , upstairs at the Prince Albert on Trafalgar Street in Brighton where Andy Colquhoun and I will be doing our poetry and electric guitar madness, and may well be joined by the fine slide of Tim Rundall. Then, on Friday, June 17th. the entire band will be doing a special show, again in Brighton, at The Hydrant, Preston Circus, London Rd for all those who can’t make it to Glastonbury. That’s the plan so far. More details will show up here and on Facebook as showtime draws nearer.

Great News
ReplyDeleteFor anyone who fancies seeing Mick and Andy at the Prince Albert in Brighton on June 5, as mentioned, it's an afternoon show- roughly 2-5- and we'll be charging £3 on the door. Under the 'Everybody's Got To Be Somewhere' banner, there'll also be poetry sets from myself, Matt Colegate from contemporary psych band Teeth of The Sea, James Prue and Lisa Jayne, plus Dan Belton spinning rambunctious rock n' roll in between... see y'all there!
ReplyDeleteSorry, that was me shamelessly plugging up above, not Lisa!
ReplyDeleteWow! Great news.
ReplyDeleteNo Larry or Twink though?
And what about coming to Manchester to re-live the famous firt Pink Fairies show?
I won't be attending. Can't land the mothership in the area without creating end of the world panics, and there are enough of those alrady.
ReplyDeleteHey Mick, see if you can get a few track up on youtube for us offworlders.
Damn glad to hear you're rockin' again.
Maybe a new CD???
Shit - I'm in Brighton this weekend - shame it isn't happening then. Will see if I can get down for the 17th....
