DOC 40 ADMITS ITS MISTAKES

Valerie points out how, two weeks ago, I was kinda of mean to Dita Von Teese when in fact she might actually be doing something quite useful. She is launching PETA's new ABC campaign.

"What does ABC stand for? Animal birth control, of course! PETA's new ABC campaign tackles the issue of companion animal overpopulation and urges people to do their part by taking simple steps to help end this crisis. Dita knows her ABCs and just how important animal birth control is. Every year, nearly 4 million dogs and cats are put to death in the U.S. because there are not enough good homes for them. Until we all do our part to put an end to this cycle, euthanasia will remain a tragic necessity." (Click for more.)

Dude, you seem to have really jumped full force on the PETA bandwagon. I'm Sad to hear it. I wouldn't of thought you'd be the type to buy into their particular brand of idiocy.

These clowns are the Republican Party of animal welfare/animal conservation groups; ceaselessly ramming their asinine viewpoint down the public's throat and branding anyone who disagrees with them as evil, grinning, psychotic butchers.

  2. I'm all for spaying and neutering, but I think Ms. Von Teese can take care of herself. I'll also have to admit to some misgivings about PETA.

Agreed; I'm all for spaying and neutering pets ("companion animals"?! shut the fuck up), but one good idea doesn't make up for the tsunami of bullshit that PETA has spewed out over the years.

  4. I thank we're basically in agreement. I don't buy the whole PETA package. If I did, I wouldn't have a leather jacket, and minks are mean little fuckers, like fury sharks, but the spaying of digs and cats is important

  5. That should read "furry". Oops. Although fury is kind of good. I met some minks once. They had this vibe that they wanted nothing more than to rip my flesh.

That doesn't mean they deserve to be caged, and killed. We've got microfleece and plenty of better ways to keep warm.

My guess is they just wanted you to keep your distance. And if they were caged, any vibe they had would be legitimate under the circumstances. I'd want to do more than rip the flesh off anyone that tried to cage me.

  7. I dunno, Kass, my encounter with minks left me with the distinct impression that they'd want to rip my flesh if I met them in a cocktail lounge.

OK... I think a zoology lesson is in order. Minks are part of the weasel family, as are stoats (Wind in the Willows), ferrets, wolverines, and lots more.

They ALL rip flesh for a living... it's their nature (The Crying Game). An ermine is a weasel turned white for the winter... my cats brought one in through the cat door. Had a black tipped tail, a la Henry the 8ths collar and was so beautiful I put it on the scanner, blood and all.

The idea that hundreds have to be killed, each to contribute a dozen square inches or less to some rich bitch's coat pisses me off and always will. Sure, if it's survival, say in Lapland or something, but they'd be smart enough to use a larger animal. Ermine and mink are status, and they're empty, cruel, wasted status in my book.
