THEY DON’T MAKE BANDS LIKE THAT ANY MORE #2
I came across this picture while working on the super-fine, up coming Bomp magazine wonder book (More about that in the future.) They are the Pandoras from the fabulous 1980S and there is a website about them with video and audio and beaucoup fine stuff.

They're not the Pandoras. No one else could be the Pandoras, but check out the Gore Gore Girls:

Now I'm totally confused. They told me it was The Pandoras.
ReplyDeleteDude, I just meant that the Gore Gore Girls will never be the equal of the Pandoras. Now I'm all upset because I can't find any of my Pandoras CD's. I'll listen to "Let's Knife" by Shonen Knife and throw in some Dusty Springfield. Might help me find them.
ReplyDeleteGore Gore Girls are pretty good though.
Oh, okay. I understand.
ReplyDeleteI was on a festival bill once with Shonen Knife. (Tijuana Bible in Brussels.) Wasn't impreswsed, but Dusty...pure fucking genius.
It's my understanding that Shonen Knife have their moments and you have to be their for them. "Let's Knife" is a recorded moment.
ReplyDeleteDusty, hell yes.
How come I only feel like commenting on posts about pop culture? It's not like I don't have opinions on the ruling cabal, or on the system as a whole, but I keep finding myself with not much to say. I don't think that I'm alone.
I take great comfort in the sound of women singing.
hmm...is that SINGING that shonen knife is doing, then?
ReplyDeletewotta coinkydinky. i posted a picture of the pandoras last week on my blog. too bad about paula pierce, huh? they'd probably be planning a reunion by now.
