An amusing aside is that his character in "Kid Monk baroni" is supposedly "so ugly that women made fun of him", and that during "Star Trek" he (playing Spock, the Enterprise's nerd) was receiving significant more female fan letters than William Shatner's Captain Kirk (the Enterprise's footbal jock).
If that's not science-fiction, I don't know what is.
